THE COLLABORATIVE at COP30: In the spirit of the Global Mutirão

The 30th annual United Nations Conference on Climate Change, or COP30, is taking place from November 10-21 in the city of Belém, Brazil.

This year, the Brazilian presidency of COP30 has invited the world to join forces in a coordinated, diverse, and transformative mobilization, called the Global Mutirão. Rooted in the Tupi-Guarani concept of 'mutirão,' a self-organized effort to support one another in times of need, the Global Mutirão bridges the gap between global climate ambition and everyday realities, establishing spaces for active listening and valuing the diversity of voices and knowledge.

At COP30, we are all being called on—governments, social movements, youth, indigenous peoples, traditional communities, the private sector, academia, and civil society—to come together in a collective effort to shift climate action from aspiration to implementation, from isolated efforts to coordinated mobilization.

The Collaborative for Systemic Climate Action mirrors the mutirão spirit itself: valuing diverse voices and knowledge, strengthening ties between local and global action, and ensuring our collective efforts match the scale of the crisis we face. Our collaboration is here to prove that systemic transformation is possible when we align our ambitions and actions, exchange knowledge and learn together, and pool our resources with intentionality. The fragmentation and division that have defined past climate efforts end when we embrace the mutirão spirit: valuing every voice and connecting every effort.

At this COP of implementation, The Collaborative members are attending not only as part of their own organizations but as part of our collective efforts representing our 25 members. Come and find us!
